Hi,
I have an HP 2200 w/JetDirect installed. I was wondering when the IP address is applied to the JetDirect, when I connect it to my networking switch or do I have to manually add the IP.

Interesting. If your printer is a network printer (I dont know that model), then it will have it's own nic to connect into the network (via RJ45), if not it will just have a standard printer cable connector. If it has a built in nic, then you will need to install DLC protocol on your machines as HP uses this protocol to comunicate. If it has the normal printer connection, you will need a printserver such as a 'D-Link' which you will assign an IP address to.
The other possibility is to connect it directly one of your machines and share it so that all the other machines can see it.
Good luck

You have to manually enter the IP address using the control panel on the printer, assuming is is similar to the HP 4M, HP 5M or HP 4050 with a jetdirect card.

If it's an older JetDirect print server you may need to get the configuration software form hp (JetAdmin)
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/nonjsnav/hpjetadmin28689.html
if it's a newer one you should be able to enter it at the console as stated above. After you know the IP address and if your computers are set to the same network you may be able to configure different optins through a web browser by just typing the ip address into the address bar :)
hope this is helpful

You can conect the printer to the network. factory default is DHCP conf, so you need a DHCP server in the network. Start setup program from the origial HP cd, and folow the procces selecting Peer-to-Peer conecction and search for devices. The program will found the assigned IP, stop the process and enter via IE to this IP. Now you can configure the printer via WEB.
