I am helping a small office with their network. They had a simple request to add one more workstation (XP PRO). We installed a switch with auto mdix to share the signal from the router and the internet access is working fine, however I'm having problems getting it connected to the main network.

They only have 8 machines so I was suprised to see they have windows 2000 server installed on the fileserver. I have a programming background and have never used 2000server or nt. I searched a bit on the server (and the net) to see if I could figure out how to add another station and nothing seemed real obvious to me.

Is adding a workstation a pretty straighforward kind of process? I think I have to add them in the user database right? I saw some options about making a disc and creating a connection file when I was searching on the server but these didn't really explain the whole process.

Since the guy who installed the network is long gone I told them I'd look into it, but if it's something that's not a simple as it might seem I'd just as soon have someone else help them. Of course, now I'm just plain curious too.
