I have the same problem. I tried what you said GT and it
didn't work. (I'm running XP). I tried resetting my router
and my laptops still work but my PC doesn't. Mine for no
reason has been saying "Acquiring Network Address". But
windows is slow on start up and Zone Alarm (that's the
firewall and AV i've been using) doesn't start. What do I
do... Can anyone help?

"I have the same problem. I tried what you said GT and it didn't work" Same problem as what?
Is this a new problem? Did the machine have connectivity at one point? If you're not obtaining an IP address, make sure the TCP/IP is set to DHCP.
More detail would be really helpful.

Just scan your computer to ensure there is no virus, worm, spyware...If you fail to start zonealarm or antivirus software, probably it's caused by virus or worms.
After that recheck your network configuration again and make sure it's correct. If still fail at last and no other options, then you might try this WinSockFix to fix your network problem.
Good luck..

Okay,,. here is the original message i wanted to posted
but accidently got screwed up and posted the other.. so
here is the original:I have a huge problem. My internet and network just
stopped working. It says acquiring network address but
nothing.1st: I tried resetting my router and my laptops still work
but my PC doesn't. (1 laptop is a Mac and the other is a PC
and they both work no problem)2nd: Windows is slow on start up and Zone Alarm (that's
the firewall and AV i've been using) doesn't start.3rd: I checked in Services an DHCP says "Starting" and I
can't stop or restart it.4th: I tried running "Network Setup Wizard" and nothing.
5th: I tried "ipconfig" cmds and nothing. When I type
/renew, it says, "An error occurred while renewing
interface Local Area Connection: The RPC server is
unavailable."What do I do... Can anyone help? I'm stuck and I haven't
had Inet for a few days.

If DHCP isn't started, then that's why you're not getting an IP.
Have you tried disabling that, restarting the machine, then re-enabling?
There must have been something that happened immediately preceding this problem. Have you tried a System Restore?
