Acquiring network address

My wireless wmp54g card always seems to acquire a new ip address, and I get disconnected from aim and the internet when it does this. This only occurs when the connection is idle for about 5-10 minutes. If it is constantly active, it doesn't disconnect. How can I make it stay connected for a long period of time, without getting disconnected and having to keep it active? I've read article on microsoft that it is probably sp2. I've tried all settings on the router to make it not disconnect me, and changed settings to the network card itself. I'm pretty good at this, but it still always does this. Please help me!!

What router? Does it have a Reserved IP Table? If so, you can associate you nics mac address with a ip address. You will always get that same address every time from the router.

Sorry I don't have a linksys and I could not find your referenced model at Linksys's site to see if it has a reserved ip table tab like my Netgears do. check your routers manual
