acquiring network address issue

hi my new toshiba netbook cannot connect to the
internet wirelesly, it keeps saying 'acquiring network
address'. i checked a few sites, and tried their solutions,
to no avail. what should i do? i tried to switch from intel
to windows for my router but i don't find the intel icon.
can someone help me please?

If you meant that you told windows to control the wireless NIC, that's correct but you have to stop Intel from starting at boot time. That way they won't conflict.

Start, run, msconfig, startup tab, uncheck intel, click apply, ok & reboot. Click ok again.
