Acquiring IP via DHCP but can't ping router

Specs: Windows xp, 2g
I have problem with router/internet access on a desktop machine. Worked fine until someone turned off the breaker. I checked the obvious--ethernet cable, different port on the router. reset the router and cable modem. ipconfig /release and /renew. I even removed the router from the system did a direct connect to the modem and acquired a new ip from the ISP still no internet.

I remove the nic from the device manager restarted and reinstalled still nothing. I figured the nic was damaged.
I pulled out a brand new wifi card, put it in same thing. Will acquire a ip from router but can't ping the router or get internet access.

The router DHCP is give all the right DNS info and ip schema.
I turned all firewall and virus software off.
Just as info I have 2 other machine on the wired network and 1 wireless that access everything fine. I have check the router to confirm that the router sees the machine. I can see that it assigned the ip and all the setting allow internet access to all connected.

I am not sure what to do from here.

"did a direct connect to the modem and acquired a new ip from the ISP still no internet. "

You should have called your isp at that point.

If all that happened was a breaker being shutoff why would you go on to nics and firewalls? Everything was working right?

"did a direct connect to the modem and acquired a new ip from the ISP still no internet." NO INTERNET with the direct connect on the problem machine, if I put the router back in the system everything is fine for the other computers.

I am sorry if I am miss representing the problem. After the breaker was shutoff without warning this problem started. I didn't see any reason to call the ISP since the rest of the computers on my network are fine. Wired and wireless are working perfectly it is just this one machine was not work.

did you run chkdsk /f on the drive?
go to a restore point before the breaker switch off?

With the pc connected to the router do a ipconfig /all and post it here for review

I wanted to give an update. I fixed the problem with the system. I added a new wired nic card and all is working. I am not sure why the nib wifi card would not work. Thanks for the help on this.
