Hello,

I have a user whose account locks out everytime she has changed her account password before it expires or when it has expired. As far as I can tell they are not entering password(s) incorrectly.

I have been advised this could indicate a serious issue. Anybody know what this issue may be, and if so, how to resolve it?

Cheers

It seems likely the issue is the user incorrectly entering the password. This doesn't rate as 'serious' from an administrative point of view. However, it has to be annoying (ie: unlocking them all the time).

I suggest you sit down with the user and explain the importance of:
a) remembering their password without writing it on a sticky note they stick to their monitor or put under their keyboard
and
b) entering the password correctly

could be a corrupt profile. Recreate the user and have her use the new one. Transfer her old profile contents to her new profile.

other reason is the user account is being used for a service, which once the password is changed now fails to logon. Review event viewer logs on both the workstation and server.

Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion. Abstinence training clearly isn't working.

Thanks for the responses.

I'll try the corrupt profile, as it does look like its related to a specific PC (user uses a few in different offices).

Then do what wanderer said. Rename the users local profile to userid.old, and have her log back in with the correct userid and password.
