ok, so i was messing around with the settings on my router (network everywhere nr041), didn't really understand about the subnet mask and i changed it. Now, noone on my router can get on the internet, and i can't get into the default gateway to change the router settings. When i reset the router, nothing changed, my subnet mask is the same. I changed it from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.255.192 any help would be great, thanks

As Barky stated he changed the internal router settings. Doing a system restore on the XP system will not change that. Sparky, the best bet is to look at your manual and do a hardware reset. Most likely a button you hold during power on and then reboot with the original settings. Then you should be able to login to the router and set your systems back up.
Good luck

Richard

yes, i did the hardware reset with the small button in the back... i can't seem to get it to set the subnet mask back.... when i got into the status of the network connection it tells me the subnet mask is still 255.255.255.192. Man, do i feel stupid for changing that... is there a way for me to manually change it in windows? i cant connect to the default gateway though my internet explorer and when i try to ping it in a prompt i just time out... HOWEVER, i can ping the other computers on the network fine. I'm gonna try to reset it again.... maybe im just an idiot and not doing it right.

What is your IP address when you are connected throught the router. The way you have it setup right now the only assignable IPs would be 192.168.0.193-192.168.0.254

Since your gateway is 192.168.0.1 (probably) you are going to have trouble getting it to connect to your router cause the router, now, is on a different subnet. and you need a gateway device to talk outside of your gateway.

The best thing is to look in the manual or call tech support and have them talk you through the resetting process.
