Good afternoon everyone. I have recently been thrown into being the network admin at our office. I was only given this cause I know more about PC's than the other people. I have a network question. I heard that you don't want to work on the Sever or access it locally. If I don't do this locally, how can I add new users and make changes remotely? Thanks for any information.

If your local or remote your still accessing the same information. Yes you can work on the server local for things like you mentioned above.

You don't want to use your server as a client. Your server is there to be a domain controller, file server, hold some type of software package, so on and so on. You don't want this computer to be a computer that you do your daily work on, or surf the net, write IM's or emails, you get the point.

I agree with mbrook don't use your server for anything but server and as M$ best practices recommend don't log into the server with the admin account but instead use "run as" to prevent malicious code from being put on the server. I would disable mail accounts on the server also.
