I WORK AT HOME AND CONNECT TO THE CORPORATE SERVER THROUGH DSL USING CISCO VPN. DURING THE CONNECTION I ONLY HAVE TO ENTER MY CORPORATE USER PASSWORD.
I ACCESS A SHARED DRIVE ON ONE OF THE COMPUTERS HOOKED TO THE SERVER. RECENTLY THEY SET THE SHARING OF THE HARD DRIVE ON THE OTHER COMPUTER WITH PERMISSIONS. THEY SET IT UP TO PERMIT MY CORPORATE USERID BUT IT IS NOT WORKING. I CAN SEE THE OTHER COMPUTER AND MAP THE HARDDRIVE; BUT WHEN I TRY TO ACCESS IT - I GET PERMISSION DENIED.
I AM GUESSING THAT THE VPN CONNECTION TO THE SERVER IS NOT SENDING OUT MY CORPORATE USERID. IN ORDER TO HAVE PERMISSION TO ACCESS THE DRIVE. IS THERE SOMETHING I NEED TO SET ON MY END SO IT WILL BE PASSED THROUGH? IT WAS WORKING FINE WHEN THE DRIVE WAS JUST SETUP TO SHARE TO EVERYONE. WHAT IF ANY USERID IS BEING SENT FROM HOME COMPUTER THROUGH THE VPN?

Just so you know, typing in ALL CAPS is considered shouting and very rude.

Have your IT people check the permissions on the drive. Making sure you have access to your data is just part of what "They" are there for.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

additionally the vpn has nothing to do with your hard drive/share access. The permissions weren't setup correctly for you on the drive. That's all.

Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search
