I cannot access my desktop (Dell) XP Home from my (HP Laptop ) Vista Business. The Dell appears under the network, and can be mapped (\\Dell\) but cannot be opened. Incidentally the Dell can access the Laptop. They are both on the same workgroup and have the same names and passwords. Any help appreciated

When you say, "The Dell appears under the network, and can be mapped (\\Dell\) but cannot be opened." what exactly happens when you try to open it? Do you get an error message? If you do, what is that error message?
