I was wondering why an Access Point would be more expensive then a wireless router which is an access point, router, and 4 port switch all in one. They are both Linksys G. I ask because i need to set up an access point at my work for 2 laptops and wasn't sure which i should uses since we have a DHCP server.

Supply and demand. There is more demand for wireless routers therefore they are cheaper. Economy of scale.

You can use the wireless router but disable the inbuilt DHCP server.
