Hi all,
I'm having trouble configuring my access point. Right now there is a wired network (on a netgear router, DHCP) of 3 PCs. I have a new laptop and have bought an Intel Wireless Gateway. I want to set it up as an access point. I enabled the AP function, disabled DHCP on the Intel, setup the Intel to get IP from the netgear DHCP and saved the settings.
I login to my Netgear router and view the attached devices and all I see are the 3 PCs attached, the Intel router is not there. I restart my laptop and it fails to get an IP address from the DHCP (169.x.x.x).
Any pointers as to what I should do?
Thanks for your advices in advance.

Is the MS base sation connected to the uplink port of the router?
It needs to be...
Is the other end of that ethernet cable plugged into one of the numbered ports on the MS base station?
It needs to be...
Are you using a "straight through" patch cable or a "crossover" cable?
You need to be using a "straight through" cable...
The cable that came with mine was a "straight through".
Also I believe you have to disable NAT on the router.
I would try to set that thing up with just basic to minimum security until I get the hang of configuring it.
Also I believe I had to go into the wireless software on the laptop and bridge the connection before it would connect.
It was somewhat challenging from what I remember.
However.
I did find good guidance when I sat down and throughly read the book and understood every configuration. Then it was easier to configure.Hope this helps.
