I have a Netgear WPN824 router and a Linksys BEFW11S4 router. Lightning got my Linksys router, actually it just got the RJ-45 ports. The wireless capabilities still works on it. So I went out and bought the Netgear router and now I want to use the Linksys router as a access point to extend my wireless network range.
Right now I have my DSL modem hooked up to the Netgear router and my main computer hooked up to the Netgear. For my second computer, it get the wireless signal from the Netgear router but, it only get 1 bar for signal strength. I also have a patch cable running from the 2nd PC's ethernet card to the "Internet" port on the Linksys router. Will the Linksys router now function as a access point/repeater?
Basically, how could I use the Linksys router as a access point or repeater to extend my wireless network?
Please let me know if there is any additional information you might need.

The linksys needs to be connected to the netgear router via ethernet cable to uplink port on the back of the linksys and one of the numbered ports on the back of the netgear router. And you need to turn DHCP off on the linksys router. To do this. You connect an ethernet cable temperarily to the one of the number ports of the linksys router directly to a PC. Then you open IE and type in the IP address of the linksys router. you be be at the configuration page of the router. Go in there and turn off DHCP. Save settings and exit IE. Now you can unplug it from your PC and plug it into the Netgear router as I outline above.
If none of the ethernet connects work on the linksys router, and you can't get in to reconfigure it. Throw it in trash.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear with my request. Is there a way to use the Linksys router as a wireless access point?
