Dear All,

I have just completed set up of a small home network (2 comps). Everything works fine (i.e. able to share files, ping, sharing internet). The only problem I have is that I can only see COMP 1 in 'My Network Place'. Although I can ping, share files etc with COMP 2, it does not appear on My Network Place. Could anyone shade some lights on my problem?

Thanks in advance.

Does comp 2 have something to share and thereby be seen because it will then be advertising the share?

Thank for your reply, yes COMP2 has shared folders. COMP2 can even access internet (as a client with ICS enable on COMP2).

But is there anything inside of the Shared folders to be shared yet?

Check the firewall settings. Beyond that, I don't know.

PCs have same Workgroup name? Do you mean that when you click on "show workgroup computers" on either PC, COMP 1 appears but COMP 2 never appears?

Thank you for your reply Bryan and Terry,

Bryan: I disable firewalls on both computer.

Terry: Both computer have same workgroup name. They are both XP Pro. When I go into (in COMP 1 and COMP2)-> ENTIRE NETWORK->MICROSOFT WINDOWS NETWORK. I can only see MsHome and only COMP1 appeared. This is very strange because COMP2 can see COMP1 but not itself. Also when I do a 'search computer' for COMP2 it also turns up. I can also map COMP2's as network drive in COMP1.

Personally I think it's the XP setup in COMP2 which hide it from the network.

Finally...found the solution to my problem. I have enter too much information (words) into the "computer description". Reducing the number of words actually solve my problem :).

Thanks to all for your help.
