I have 5 computers on my home network. I have dsl and a decent wireless router although most of the computers use the cat5 wire. I share 2 printers on the network. What benefits could I gain from running MS 2003 Server? I could allocate 1 computer to be the server but would it offer more security, better network performance, or any other significant benefit??????

I doubt you need the security or centralized administration. You're not likely to see any performance gains either. Question: Are you familiar with Windows 2003 and Active Directory integrated domains and domain administration? If not, you probably don't want to mess with a server.
As a rule of thumb, if you have 10 workstations or less, you don't require a domain. You likely don't require a server either.
For what it's worth, I'd save my $ for something else other than a server and Windows 2003.
