Solved 8-years old Caretakers modem & router wifi signal is fading

December 31, 2014 at 14:52:15
Specs: Imac & HP + a IPad, i76gb
MY Caretakers modem with a router provided by me 8 years ago seems to be fading or is it the walls and distance that give of poor WI-FI. I have a cat 5 cable connected to it from afar around the house to my laptop that works fine. Sometimes slow. Is that due to traffic? But mostly it gives off fair WI-FI but for a short time and she has to reset it to perform good WI-FI again. But the ethernet connection, from around the house to my room from router to my laptop seems to always be there. Just that the WIFI to my room is poor.

You now have three posts on this item... Please stick with one of them.. I have suggested in a reply to to your first post - that you stick with the second post... But copy info from the first to the second as it may have a bearing on the overall solution...

If you keep posting about the same issue likely you will find all the post deleted; or that no-one will actually pay any attention..? At the least the moderators will more than likely delete a couple of them (at least) to avoid confusions (and also what is effect comes over as spamming?).

Constant need to reset a router to enable/stablise wifi usually means there is an issue with the router; presuming the problem persists even if your very close to the router (in the same room). The ethernet/cat-5 side is usually fine even if the wifi is getting flakey... But as in your second post; make/model of router is useful as it may have a bearing on what is happening...

Again suggest you stick with your second post...

Probably router but maybe you should ask your server about it just in case they are having difficulties or there is something awry with your phone line.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
