Hey Everyone,

So I bought a Dynex router with 4 Internet jacks (plus the jack for the cable from the modem to the router) so my roomie and I can share our Internet connection. For some reason, when we hook the modem to the router, and plug in our separate Internet cables to each of our computers, my laptop doesn't find the Internet connection. It gives me that annoying "Limited or no connectivity" error message. The strange part: my roomie's connection works fine. She's on a Mac.

I've tried repairing the connection, but that doesn't work since it can't connect to the Net. Is there a way to make this thing work, or will we just have to keep switching off on who can use the Net at once?

Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks!

Are you both trying to use the same IP address, or do you have IP set to automatically obtain an IP address?

sounds like you need to config the router to supply enough ip addresses. I wonder when you say the firewall is off in the router that perhaps you are not using nat and are just bridging. Would explain the single ip/internet usage. should be just a matter of following the manual.

Are you ready for where Microsoft wants you to go today?

you could try checking the tcp\ip settings or you can try a different port on the router. If your not seeing the same error than perhaps its the cable..just throwing out ideas.
