Hi folks, I've inherited an old 3Com SuperStack II PS40 24-port hub, and want to use it to set up a small wired network. However, I don't know the password to access the web-based or command-line management interface. It's a discontinued product, so not supported by 3Com anymore. Anyone know how to reset the password? many thanks.

If it were me, I'd check online for a manual for that unit. 3Com may not support it anymore but may still have the manual available. The manual should detail how to reset the unit to factory default, which is what you need to do.
If you cen't find a manual, you could try some google searches on things like "reset 3Com [model]" or "reset 3Com [model] to factory defaults" etc, etc.

Thanks CurtR. Already got the manual, which helpfully says 'contact your supplier' if the admin password is lost... I've also checked inside the case for a reset jumper or switch - no luck. Presumably there will be a hardware reset involving a couple of contact pads on the PCB, but need a 3com engineer to tell me which ones!

Thanks Jimi_1, that's useful. I'd figured out I need to make a serial connection to the hub with a null modem cable, then use a terminal emulator to gain command-line access. Reset commands suggested from another forum:
