3COM NIC Compatible With Gigabyte?

I have a Gigabyte GA-7ZX-1 motherboard with an 800mhz Athlon CPU. The system was running beautifully until I install a 3COM NIC 3C900B TPO card for cable internet. Now the system will sometimes lock up when it boots up and will hang on shutdown screen. If I take the card out, the system runs fine. I've tried it in different slots too, same thing. Is there a compatibility issue with these two components? I'm here because Gigabyte's tech support absolutely sucks. Thanks.
