anyone out there can help me out with the installation of this basic pc card?
have drivers from 3com, win 98 detected network adapter, but just no green light even after having a good rj45 link up to it via dongle. some bug with win 98?
My laptop is a IBM Thinkpad 760. COuld not ping , surf whatever... no conflicts or errors in control panel, system. HELP...thanks!!

Can't be that good a link up if there is no green light. No green light, No connection. You can ping till the cows come home. I know this is a basic question, but I gotta ask...is it configured? I.e. got your TCP/IP all assigned?

HI there,
the rj45 LAN is from cable and is good... my desktop works fine with it. It is linked to the cable modem. Using DCHP or something. Cannot assign IP to the laptop .
Used the same laptop and another card in school LAN, works fine. Just this 3com 3c589D. It should be plug and play according to the technical services in school. The laptop detects it, no error in control panel system, du doo sound on bootup, ... just no green light on a good hook up. 3COM card on another laptop with win98 same prob... no errors, OK detection, just no green light.
Heard from some forum that win 98 may have some probs with 3com cards... not sure..
ANYONE OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM? HELP REQUIRED.........
THANKS

Did you ever get your 3com 3c589d to work with your thinkpad? I am having the same problem you described, and am hoping you have found the answer. Thanks. CB

I'm having the identical problem with my dell latitude. I have spent the last week digging through every source I can find and still no luck resolving this problem.
I'm at the point where I'm going to trash the card and buy a different one.
I have tried everyone of the few suggestions I have found and still no luck.
Has anyone come up with a solution for this yet?
