Hi.

Say I have SBC yahoo DSL with their free 2wire modem/router...

If someone were to be in control of that modem and turns it off at night due to being a complete jerk off, would buying a 2nd modem let me access our internet service through another phone line jack?

Does it have to be a 2wire?

I'm real curious. Would the jerk off be a roommate, or a parent?

If it's a roommate, are you splitting the cost of the internet connection with said roommate?

I thought so. So your mean old dad won't let you game and download pirated movies/songs all night long. Poor you. Get a job, move out, pay for your own highspeed internet connection and nobody will be able to tell you what to do with it, or when.

No, it won't work. Too bad so sad.

You and millions of other people son. That's not a valid excuse for being a horses behind though.

Happy you ask?

I'd wager cash money I had it a lot worse than you. And no, I don't care to compare physical or emotional scars or get into my story. I feel quite lucky compared to a friend of mine who's drunken father beat him to death at age 11.

You can exist in a world of self-pity blaming everyone else and the world at large for what was done to you. Or, you can get over it, put it in the past, understand it wasn't your fault and was in fact done to you and spend you life living as vs. existing.

are you aware i wear a constant reminder on my sleeve of what was done to me?

I stutter. Chronically. For life.

Imagine not being able to say what you want to say. Imagine not being able to say your name, talk over phone, order food. Just imagine it. You standing there. Everyone looking. Waiting. Laughing.

Thanks for making putting me in my place, well deserved.

Shady, I do believe you need assistance in an area which is NOT related to computing. I doubt anyone here can help you with that.

I'd have to agree Jennifer.

And I wasn't trying to put you in your place shady. I was trying to stess that one has to move beyond their past and live, not just exist from day to day.

I was also trying to stress that you're not alone in the world. There are many others who have experienced what you have and it might just do you some good to find a support group or two made up of people with similar experience.

Were you aware you could 'sing talk' and not stutter? Singing employs a different part of the brain from 'normal' speech. If you haven't yet, you may want to look into speech therapy. I know it's helped many people.

My my. I just felt that I just had to post a response to this, although this thread is quite old. I happened to stumble upon this while searching for 2wire help, and I normally don't do this but couldn't help myself this time.

Curt R- I am assuming you don't know the person who started this post and was baffled as to why one would reply in such a way as you did, when the person was here to simply ask for computer related help.

I've seen this a lot and It just makes me feel very uncomfortable.

People start a thread asking for help with something and someone usually replies in a very insensitive way for no reason at all, addressing issues which have nothing at all to do with the subject the original poster was inquiring about. They make assumptions about things they most likely know nothing about, concerning things that are of no business to them in the first place.

I find it very odd.

Luckily I will never return to see if there is follow up reply to this, in fear that I will get verbally attacked and be put in a position where I have to explain explicit details of my personal life in order to satisfy someones egotistical need to bully.

Oh well.

I guess thats life right?
