I have a linksys 5 port workgroup switch hooked to a cable modem in the uplink and i have 2 WinXP PCs in port 3 and 4, the problem is i can only get one PC to connect to the internet(after a reset) at a time. Am i missing a setting in WinXP, or what?!?!?!?!

you must use a proxy or NAT server to share internet connection but if you cable modem is connect to RJ45 cable you canīt use de same network interface to conect to the other computer.
comp A is connect to cable modem this computer get a Public ip for de modem EX 200.55.12.34 automatic but the other computer get a ip for APIPA Automatic Pribate IP Asignation EX 169.254.xx.xx
For connect 2 comp must be work in the same net or subnet like ip 10.0.0.10 mask 255.0.0.0 and ip 10.0.0.20 mask 255.0.0.0
you can connect cable modem to USB and intall the driver this driver create a virtual adapter this adapter get a Public IP and you can configure static ip for each comp.
Sorry for my Inglish I speak Spanish
