how do you get 2 computers to see each other when one is 2000 and the other is 98 and they are on different subnets that cannot be changed due to dhcp

Well its not that a big problem.

All you have to do is on each computer you have to assgin the other computer IP on the Default Getaway.

And then when you will have a request for the computer which is not on the same subnet it will see that the IP you are requesting is not on your subnet and it will look in the Default Getaway in order to check another subnet.

If you have a router you will have to set on the Default Getaway the IP address of the Router from the other subnet
