Is it a hub or a router? Makes a big difference in the setup. To use a hub, you must set the PCs up as a internet sharing configuration and not thru a residential gateway. Since they are XP, you can run the wizard on each. Be precise in making your option choices and don't forget to identify the resources to be shared.

Get the router instead of ICS.

well unlike all u rich folk out there i dont have 50$CND to spend on a router, and since i have a hub, might as well get the piece of S**T to work.

Please more completely describe your hardware and physical arrangement. You state one PC is connected directly to the internet, did you add a second ethernet card to this PC and a crossover cable to the second PC?

1st computer is connected to the internet...2nd ethernet card, using a enternet cord is plugged into the hub. Then a standard enthernet cord goes from the hub to the 2nd pc. prob is 2nd pc isnt getting the internet, i also cant see iether computer under "work-group computers"..ran the wizard, even used the network disk..

You must replace the standard ethernet cable with a cross-over cable to connect two PCs. That should solve your problem. They are readily available on the net. Check prices so you don't get ripped off.

Verify the second computer's IP address and subnet mask is in the same range as your 2nd NIC's 192.168.0.1 IP address and subnet mask. The second computer's IP address has to be manually set since it cannot get out to the DHCP server.

Set the second computer to 192.168.0.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

After you do this, verify both computers can see each other before you try to set up ICS.

This should work, but if you have Windows Firewall enabled, it may not. Turn it off until both computers can at least see each other. After that it may be a permission problem, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there...

Good Luck

You got it. The standard ethernet cable is for connecting dis-similar devices such as PC to hub or modem. To connect similar devices you either must have a cross over cable or switchable ports. PC network cards don't have switchable ports.

Just another thought, I had similar problem and took several days and lots of trial an error and finally found simple answer was to be sure the encription was set the same. I had 64 bit on one and 128 on the other and til they matched it was a nogo!!!
