My 2 Win Me machines do not see each other over the network.
I use a Crossover cable and fa312 cards.
One of my machines had a problem with install, it wasn't automatically installed. i had to select the driver from a list then. Windows then said my driver was not written for my network card but it was the same driver as in my other PC which installed properly.
However... once installed with the (supposedly) wrong driver, it does not show any problem in device manager.
I have setup all the protocols and run ics. but still can't see the other PC across the network.
Because I have a crossover cable I have no need for a hub, is this correct?

Hello,
If you have TCP/IP working correctly then you should be able to PING each other.
The only way you will be able to view the other system from network neighboruhood is if you have installed the Net BEUI protocol.
If both of these are working properly then the problem is hardware related.

I have followed several setup guides with no luck.
I tried to ping 192.168.0.2 from 192.168.0.1 and recieve 100% LOSS.
however the little green transfer light appeared on both PC's just no reply. So you think the problem is hardware related, if that didn't work would it be IRQ conflict none was shown in device manager..
cheers for you help
