Hello All :)
I'm running my PC on a home LAN that has two interent connections. My PC connects to a switch, then to another, to which an ISDN Router (Diva 1830) and an Aramisca Arc (Satellite Firewall) are connected. Is it possible to access them both simultaneously on one PC? If so, can it be done through XP or do I need some clever soft/hardware?
One is an ISDN 64k duplex (192.168.1.x)which I use for gaming and P2P, the other is 1Mbit/256k Satellite Broadband [192.168.1.y)which is used for work and webrowsing. Ideally, I'd to be able to enjoy the benefits of both (low ping /high speed respectively)without haveing to interrupt my internet connection.
For example, could I default Internet Explorer, IRC etc. to the fast connection, whilst defaulting edonkey, Nascar Racing Season 2003 to the ISDN connection?
Is this possible? Can I assign different IP routings for individual applications / programs? I'm using an Asus A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 with dual LAN capability. Is having dual onboard LAN at all relevant?
I guess the short answer would be to get cable broadband! :) Unfortunately Sattelite is all that's available - the ISDN is a backup / low latency alternative.
Currently I edit the default gateway each time I need to change, which admittedly only takes a few seconds. [I'm sure there is software which would allow even this at the click of a mouse.]
Thanks for the input,
D

never tried it, but your supposed to be able to setup 5 different ip's on the same nic card, you could try and see what happens.
or put in a second nic for the other connection.
no reason they won't work. i have built in wifi at work and cat5, both up and running at the same time.
as for forcing the software to use one or the other, now there's a problem. i suspect that it will pick one at random and you won't have any controll over that.
