This is exactly my problem: Is it possible to connect 2 PC's using USB ports and share all files and discs as if it were Ethernet?

YES You can get a usb to ethernet adaptor, it still works at 10/100. So yes just don't where to get one

you can now get usb to usb cables with an inbuilt ethernet adapter, i have seen these at PCworld in the uk, so i know you can get them,
