Hey. It would be great if anyone can help.
I got a Motorola SB5100 cable modem. It has Ethernet and USB connection. I have 2 pc's and only one is connected to the net. I would like to set the other one up, but i dont have any knowledge or spare parts for this. I wondered if there was a way to connect both pc's up to the net with this modem. Both pc's are the same and don't have to use the net simultaneuosly. Any help appreciated!

If you already have nics in both computers, and a USB cable for connecting one of them to the cable modem. Then all you have to do is set up a Home Network, with the two computers and then on the one hooked up to the cable modem, go to network connections and enable Internet Connection Sharing. Just read the help files and follow directions. If you have two nics in one of the computers, use it for the connection sharing computer, and use the nic and not a usb hookup, as a nic is a better and faster connection. Lots of luck

If you can afford it, I would still go with a router ($30) for the simplest setup. In the end, it is worth it.
