Reply: (edit)If I were you id remove one of the nic cards, specially since you have broadband. just get a router/switch/broadband combo and even better get a wireless router which they are rather cheap nowadays ;o) The good thing about using a router is you dont need a dedicated computer to access the internet, the router acts as the host, hope this helps !!!

Reply: (edit)This is a little off topic and I don't mean to sound degrading or anything but I'd also be careful with the operating systems you have running with that cable modem. Your profile shows you running 2000 Advanced Server. In all honesty, from a security standpoint, if you don't know what to do with 2 NIC's in your PC, do you really know how to lock down that machine??

Reply: (edit)If you don't know then you don't need to know. Certain advanced tasks can be accomplished with 2 NIC's. For the person who surfs from home and hangs out on the Net, the setup you currently have is just fine. My concern was more from the operating system standpoint rather than the fact that were 2 NIC's in the PC.
