HELP!!! I have to athlon 1ghz computers one running win me with 2 network cards and one with win 98se and two network cards. At first I couldn't get the two computer to see eachother but then I found out I had that damn bymer virus on it. I got rid of virus, then I could ping each machine, but transferring from win me machine to win98se was slow and sometimes locked up. Then I put in a isa 10/100 card into me machine so now I have a pci and isa card in. Now with client for microsoft networks but doesn't prompt me for password at startup. I tried using both cards with my dsl and both function fine. Neither of them will let me ping other machine they will ping themselves. Tried removing and re-installing drivers no fix. tried removeing tcp/ip and re-installing no fix. I hooked up my laptop to the network and it pings and sees win98se machine. Its driving me crazy!!!! oh ip i use is 100.100.100.1,.2,.3 sub 255.255.255.0. same work group (which doesn't really matter no matter what ne1 tells you they can be different.) I also have a hub and it is working o.k. Is win me just crap or what???
Could someone who has some experience email me plz. cdugal@netzero.net or robottec@sympatico.caThanks
Craig Dugal

Your problem is basically a routing problem. Win9x and ME don't really route all that well, and they can't tell what network is really connected to what NIC. NT can be modified on the fly, but not 9x/ME. Unless you really have a need for more than one NIC, get rid of the extras.
Two things: You're right, for IP communication the workgroup doesn't mean squat, and
...ME is crap. I ran it for two months. Now I'm back to 98.Good luck,
Chase

Chase is right your having a routing problem. You need to tell your computer how to route your lan traffic V.S. your internet traffic. you would type in this syntax:
Route -p 100.100.100.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 GATEWAY
Where gateway is the ip address of your router.
For more help open DOS and type: Route /?Good Luck,
Chad
