I run a gamestation net and facing a new problem here. Now ppl in my netcafe enjoy playing online game called ragnarok. But the problem is NOBODY is allowed to browse anymore because when somebody browsing it will make the game 'ragnarok' lag. Can i possibly connect 2 cable modem on 1 server so that when the game run it will only using cable modem 1, and when browsing or etc will use cable modem 2? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you very much!

You might be able to set up a Unix Server that has load balancing software and options to route traffic for specific IP address ranges (the game servers) over one Ethernet NIC and Cable Modem, and the rest over the second Ethernet NIC and Cable Modem. Look for information on Unix Server software and load balancing and routing software. I am sure someone will come along and suggest several software's to look at.

It might just be quicker and easier to set up a second Cable Modem and Server and network for gamers. This way they can chose which network to connect to. The Game Only network or the Internet browsing server.

Well I think the problem is not your conection, It's the system. NET Bios share's over the net create lag on there own dispite the conection. I would set the NET Browsing on 1 system and the Game server on a secound system. How ever if you want to use 2 Cable modems, here are a few solutions. Win2000 has network routing, XP pro has it as well , But I have not used it yet. I do know Win2000 has routing and load ballance as well as netwok bridgeing and so on. It is a little frustraiting to set up becouse the help files tend to think your setting up a sever for NASA not just a small home network.

The toy I use for my 2 Cable Modems is is a NEXLAND Pro800 Turbo. Does a nice job. This will let you set rquest per exsternal IP so you can direct them to internal IP's the way you want. (with 2 modems you will have 2 exsternal ip's) There for you could send Games 2 1 ip and Net Bios Share to the other. But again, if there both on the same system I think you will still have lag.

Here is a link were you can buy one of these toy's

Good Luck
