Can someone please help me out?

I'm trying to get into my router config settings but for some reason http://192.168.1.1 is not connecting. This has never happened before.

I have a normal 4 port Linksys router and this is the first time i've ever ran into trouble.

I have reset the router and my cable modem, but it has made no difference.

I'm completely lost and I really need to get to the configuration.

:\

You can ping by going to the start menu... then run.... type in CMD... a black screen will pop up (looks like the old dos command screen)... in this screen type in
"ping 192.168.1.1" if you get a response back something is messed up... if you get a time out check the connections again, and/or reset the router... you can also try typing in "arp -a" in that black box the address 192.168.1.1 should show up

Make sure that your router is able to send back echoes(the response from router being pinged)if this is disabled you wouldnt get a response, also make sure that 192.168.1.1 is the default ip from the router. if you arent able to ping it try this...go to start-run type cmd and then type ipconfig. You should get a list of ips. This will let you see the routers ip just incase you might have changed it before or 192.168.1.1 is not the default ip

Its all good

Make sure your XP firewall is either off or properly configured. If you've recently installed the SP2 upgrade then that's probably your problem: SP2 enables the firewall by default and usually screws up the settings.
