169 error

Specs: Windows XP
When I do connect to my VPN the internet connection goes down, and offcourse I get disconnected from the VPN. I am getting a 169...Ip address. Already used the netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
I am using windows XP

Please help me!

You will have to do a much better job of describing how you are doing your vpn, with what software and other details to get an answer.

Thank you, found the problem!
It is a PPTP Tunnel hosted on a windows small bussiness server 2008 going trough the linksys Cisco router. The issue is with remote clients trying to connect to the VPN. It seems the VPN connects and authenticates but no IP address is assigned to the vpn interface on the client side. The default route is modified to a 169 ip address and even the browsing stops at that point.
