I don't know if this problem has already been posted, i just dont want to look through any more posts...XD

I cant connect to the internet using the ethernet port.
I just reformatted my notebook (HP PRESARIO V3000) a couple times to see if it was some glitch.
I checked Device Manager and there was no yellow exclamation or nothing on it.
In the Network Connections, it says its connected, but its not sending or receiving anything.

I used to be able to connect to the internet after i formatted it, back a while ago, but now this happens. I dont know whats wrong so im asking for your help please.
if you need to know more info, just ask and ill post.

The title of your post confuses me. The 1394 Adapter is associated with the firewire port, not your Ethernet adapter/port.

This makes me wonder if your actual Ethernet adapter is disabled, not installed, or not connected.

Confirm you are looking at the right thing, and post back.

In Device Manager, under Network Adapters there is only 1394 Net Adapter so i assummed that was ethernet because i dont know what a firewire is, Should there be anything else?
How can you check that the Ethernet Adapter is not connected, disabled, or not installed.

I went to www.hp.com to look for drivers, but all but one of them is for wireless, and I installed the driver that was not wireless assuming it was for other(i.e. Ethernet) but that didnt work either.

help T.T

If that is the only thing listed, your Ethernet card is ether damaged, or the drivers aren't installed. Do you see any devices under "Other Devices"? Are there any other devices listed with exclamation or question marks?

It's probably the "network controller" or "unknown device". But in any case, you have way too many devices without drivers installed. The HP support site MUST have drivers for all of these devices. If you can't find it, you can just download all the drivers available, extract them all to the same folder, then tell Windows to look in that folder and all subfolders when you "Update Driver" for each of those devices.

PS: I just looked at the HP website and they have a ton of variations on the Presario v3000 model so you'll have to select your exact model from the list. However, I clicked on a couple of them and each lists an "Intel PRO Network Adapter Driver" (see here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/... available, assuming your model uses the same card as the ones I checked, this is what you'll need.

Okay so I have the exact same problem as you.

I just reformatted my computer. It doesn't respond to anything just like you. But the only driver that isn't updated that is similar to you is the "SM Bus Controller"

So right now I'm going to try to update that or get it working and see if that's my problem. I'll let you know.

If you have a solution please post :)
