1 computer 2 isp

I have 2 isps, dsl{700/128 kbps}and cable {2.1/1 mbps} both are working well. I can't do away with one or the other. Why?, because my dsl provider needs it to host (up /download) infor from my dedicated web server and I am locked into a 1 year contract. Cable internet, blazing speed. Both dsl and cable moderm have been assigned separete nics. I can connect to each isp through their respective moderms with max up and down load speeds [ ie when 1 moderm is on and the other off. Problem:-when both moderm are on- speed test provide me with only the speed of the dsl{700/128 kbps}. Is there something wrong with my computer, the speed tests or what. Why can't I get a combine speed ( less than 5% of the combined speed{2.8/1.12 mbps}would be acceptable but not less than 75% of the combined speed).

You can't add the two services together. Packets are routed on either of the services. It appears that DSL is your default connection. If you open another applicaton you may be able to set it up to use the other connection.

Interesting..I wonder if they could be "bridged"..send packets with the source address from the cable modem provider over the DSL line..you probably couldnt do the reverse, tho, because cable companies use source address verification. What if you segment the outgoing routing based on some scheme of saying the route for x.x.x.5 IP is over NIC1 and route for x.x.x.6 IP is over NIC2? or multipath routing (Im not even sure if this is an option in windows, but I know that *nix has "Equal cost multi path routing" (ECMP) Just some thoughts on the idea..wish I had dual connections so I could play!

Just a thought, try using 2 routers - setting up one as a router and the other as a gateway - may be it might work.

Why is ECMP possible in Unix ( read much about it on internet) but not in Win and or Mac. To the other suggestion of using 2 routers - how is that possible? How do I set up 2 or more routers to split/combine infor during down / up loads? What about the Nics, what would be their ipconfig and or gateways?

There is a program designed to link two internet connections together for faster speed. Can't remember what it was called though...sorry.
