Comment: The LAN connection i have on my computer says it is connected but never actually allows me to access the internet. It uses IP address, subnet mask, DNS server etc. All of which i have entered correctly into the Internet Protocol (IP/TCP) properties. When i go into the connection status window it shows that X (which constantly changes) number of packets have been sent and always 0 received. I have removed the firewall on this connection and it has no effect on the problem. When i ping the IP address the response is 'request timed out' (100% loss). Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Reply: (edit)Why do you say the config is correct? By the way, ping is a mostly useless tool. Start with xp's help and support pages. See network diagnostics. I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
