Comment: I'm having a problems getting Remote Control working through Zenworks 2. I have managed it via IPX, but can't for some reason get it to work with IP. When I try to use the file transfer option and remote execute, I am told that I can't use the computer as it doesn't have TCP/IP installed. I have checked my TCP/IP settings under the Control Panel/Networks options, and all are fine. I have also managed to ping the servers and clients involved. Has anyone got any ideas I could try.. Many thanks.

Reply: (edit)I do would not rely on Zenworks Remote control too much....there are too many things to be configured before you can actually remote control a users pc. I would recomend using third party software like Funk's Proxy. This software works great and is very user friendly, just install the host on the user's machines and install the master on your machine and bingo, you have a connection as well as real time remote control with little bandwith usage. you can also open many sessions at once wich alows you to work on as many pc's that you want on one desktop. you can find this software at WWW.funk.com. there is a fully functional demo at this site. for faster access to the demo go through the tech support area and click on proxy. it will tell you that you are downloading a patch for the software but you are really downloading the entire package. the file name is ph306.exe and pm306.exe. or something simular to that.

Reply: (edit)try running unreg32.exe at public, than change the prferred protocol from ipx in ip in the win9x user policy. then register the pc again and re- import it in nds. reboot the pc and try if you can ping the remote management agent within the pc object. If this works than you should be able to remote control the pc.
