XP Office Pro & Novell Client 4.83s

Hi,

Any help would be appreciated

We have 2 new XP boxes on our Netware 5.0 Server.

Both boxes are running XP pro with XP Office Pro.

When saving a Word or Excel file to the Network Drive, it takes over a minute to save.

This problem occurs on both boxes, I've tried the following Novell patches without success:

Updated NWFS.SYS for Client v4.83 (NT483PT2.exe)

Application software performance is slow (236779.exe)

All other applications save quickly and I haven't been able to find anything at the M$ site.

Anyone have any suggestions???

is there enough RAM in the computer? is
virtual memory on? do other programs do
this as well? (say wordpad or notepad).
Another cause could be if you have
multiple DHCP servers, or if you have to
go through a lot of hubs to get to your
server.

Hi Steve,

The box has 1 gig of ram.

Word Pad & Note Pad both save quickly.

I'll have to check the Virtual Memory setting.

Hi.
If the replies before didn't solve your problem. Try changing this value in the registry. We have made this change to speed up all conections to Netware servers.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetwareWorkstation\NetworkProvider\
DeviceName

Change the value from NetwareWorkstation to NetwareRedirector

This should do it.
