Win98 workstations, client 3.3, Netware 4.2. I am having workstations randomly losing connection. The mapped drives still show up in My Computer but there is no files listed. This is happening at random. Not isolated to one particular switch. I have done a packet capture on the switches and NICs in both the workstations and server and there are no errors/dropped packets showing up. There is no automatic power down feature turned on in the workstations. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen a similar problem, one instance the site was running out of licenses; and another the NIC was failing. If you have plenty of licenses, replace the NIC.

Also go to control panel, system... look at the NIC, see if there is a powersaving option in the nic properties. We had some doing that, ends up in the hardware properties there was a powersaving feature which allowed Windows to put the NIC to sleep. When the user came back it appeared they were logged in but of course they lost their connection.
