Reply: (edit)I too cannot uninstall Winmx. I think this has something to do with the Tech Wars going on between Peer to Peer sharing companies. Same thinh happened between Real Player and Media Player - We're just consequential damage.

Reply: (edit)I looked in the folder where Winmx was at and there was a big red X through the uninstall (using Win XP), but I fiured I'd try it anyway, of course it didn't work. The next thing I tried was the "system restore " in Win XP, and away it went. The problem I was having was I lost my autostart in my cd drive. All works great now.

Reply: (edit)I got it!!! Ok, all you have to do is go to the START button and then click on SETTINGS. Once there click on TASKBAR. In taskbar choose START MENU PROGRAMS and there under CUSTOMIZE START MENU click on REMOVE and it will take you to where Winmx is and just click on yes to remove it! And you are rid of it!!! Good luck...

Reply: (edit)I can't figure it out. The answer's not out there. I sent an email to feedback@winmx.com, expressing my frustration, and I suggest that you all do too. It's a hunt-and-peck through the registry, for sure. Do a Google search for "uninstall winmx" and you will feel like you're part of a great big family. Dammit. Why did I install this thing? If you're worried about or don't know how to edit your registry, you're not alone there, either. But you should get someone that has an idea to help you. Good luck. See you at KaZaA, spyware or no spyware. At least you can get the files you want...and take it off if you decide to!

Reply: (edit)You can uninstall WinMX (and any other program that comes without an uninstaller)using any of the uninstallers shown at http://download.com.com/3150-2096-0-1-1.html?legacy=cnet In future, you may wish to check whether a program comes with an uninstaller BEFORE installing it on your computer.

Reply: (edit) Well, i think i may have figured out how to uninstall it. ok.. step #1 is to right click the WinMX icon and select properties. from there you gotta double click the "Find Target" button. Now after you have done this, there you will see the UNINSTALL BUTTON. If my hypothesis works..email me to let me know. bye

Reply: (edit)i have XP installed, and I cant uninstall winmx neither. If I doubleclick on uninstall in winmx-folder nothing happens. I didnt even had Uninst.isu file. Also, WinMX doesnt appear in Add/Remove Programs. I created i reg-file so the program showed up in Add/Remove Programs. From there I uninstalled it. Dont now if it just removed the folder c:\program files\winmx or if it removed all other necessary things. Its gone anyway. If u run XP, create a textfile, in that copy&paste this: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\WinMX] "DisplayName"="WinMX" "UninstallString"="\"C:\\Program Files\\WinMX\\uninstall.exe\"" And then doubleclick on it. Then go to Add/remove Programs and uninstall it
