Hi
Posted in the Win2003 forum and they suggested me to post in the Netware forum.I have two 2003 SP1 servers in workgroup mode and basically they will be media streaming servers and file servers.
This is in a university enviroment so I will need the students to upload there data individually. Now all the students will have there own usernames and passwords and there login password for netware will be different to windows. At the moment when trying to connect to the server share it takes very long too bring up the authentication box. Windows Firewall is on and configured to allow these clients in.
The username and password I am using to connect has full rights.
The username and password I use to log in to the PC (XP Pro) doesnot have a account on the server but the server tries that username and password serveral times.
This is on a Gb/s network.
Any ideasThanks
PS I have found out that if you try to connect to the servers from a workstation which has no novell client it connects immediadtley, with client takes ages...

The windows username and passwords on the xp workstations will have to match the netware username & passwords to log onto the netware servers if netware clients are installed on the workstations.
There are 2 ways round this.
1) Use Zenworks & implement Dynamic Local User (DLU)
2) I do have a work around but this is only good if your enviroment is just novell servers and no windows servers so no need to explain.
Turn it off, wait a while, turn it back on again.

for me it sounds likeyou have to use ad. if you want to have an individual account for every student with home dir's etc. you need a user management on the windows servers. the only way to realize this is using ad. than you need a synchronisation of the ad and edir accounts. for this you should check novell nsure :
