Comment: I posted this message a week ago in the networking forum, and received some pretty good advice but unfortunately it did not work. So I thought I would post it in the Netware forum. We have 50 computers all running Windows 98 SE. Recently I tried to introduce an XP Pro machine to our companies network. It works fine connecting to our Novell server, but the only way we can get the XP machine to see any of the 98 boxes (peer to peer) on the local workgroup is by using file and print sharing for Microsoft on the 98 machines. Instead of what we need to run, file and print sharing for Netware. Either way, the 98 machines see the XP box just fine. Also when browsing the 98’s network neighborhood there seems to be two work groups with the same name. One contains all the 98 machines in the group and the other only contains the XP machine. Below I will list the clients, services and protocols that we are currently running on both platforms. Any ideas you can give that will make these two play nice would be greatly appreciated. XP Professional: Client services for Netware Client for Microsoft networks File and print sharing for Microsoft Qos packet scheduler Net BEUI NWLink NetBIOS NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS compatible transport TCP/IP 98 SE: Client for Microsoft networks Client for Netware networks Ipx/Spx compatible protocol Net BEUI Net bios support for IPX/SPX compatible protocol TCP/IP File and Print Sharing for Netware

Reply: (edit)I have noticed that if all the machines on the network are attaching to the same NW server and most importantly the server containing the master replica, all PC's will see each other. Oh, and remove the Qos packet scheduler from the XP machines and you can gain some "reserved" bandwidth back (just a side note). Also you might want to check the policy settings for the XP box. If the aforementioned suggestions do not help let me know, I have a few more but am to tired to list now. Good luck.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the reply. All the machines are attached to the same NW server and the XP box refuses to see the 98 box. If you can can you elaborate on the policy settings. I think thats were my problem lies, but really not sure. Thanks Joe
