What exactly is novell netware? Is it something like windows server programs? Is there any sites to explain how it works and what it's used for? I would like to learn about it and other networking programs etc.

Novell Netware is what the windoze server program wants to be when it grows up.
Yes, Netware is a network server system, primarily for file and print services. Just like windows server, it is only a good application server for programs that were written to be served up by netware, and most have not been anymore. I could go on about the ways that Netware is superior to windoze, but that wasn't your question.
If you want to learn more about it, do two things: 1) Go to www.novell.com and download the free, 3-user version of Netware, install it somewhere and use it, 2) get a good basic book and read it. All of the documentation for Netware is on thier web site but, like most documentation, isn't very good for learning basics.

Please help. I had a netware 3.12 server networked with a netware 3.12 client on a win98 workstation. The workstation power supply and MB got zapped, so I took out the hard dirve and I put it in another machine. Now it can't see the server and I'm not able to map to F drive on the server. I have installed the network card and have tried netx and ipx, but they won't load. Please help with a procedure.
