We are facing slowness on Windows 2000 by navigating the resources in the Novell 5.1 server, like I opened a file from a mapped network drive and then try to open the second file, the its freeze for a while (like 30 second). Also we are facing some printing problem. Normally our NDPS printers works fine with all the applications, but only when try to print some thing from a webpage, the computer freeze for a while.

Most of our computers are with W2K and Novell Client 4.83SP1, where we are getting slow response. But I tested the same with Win95, Win98 and WinNT40 and the response time is very good.

In our server, Client File Caching=Off, also tested by disabling File Caching and Burst Mode, but no result.

You help will be appreciated

Which protocol are you using? TCPIP or IPX? my settings (they work for me) are:

File Caching =On
File Commit =Off
Give Up On Requests.. =1
Ip Adress Costing =0
SLP Active Discovery =0
Name Resolution Timeout =1
Wait Before Giving Up On DA =1

I also made an entry for the netware server in my %WINDIR%\sytem32\drivers\etc\host

Hi Berry,

Thanks for your help. I am confused about 'SLP Active Discovery 'settings, it has option to set 'ON/OFF', but unable to trace out any '0'. Appreciate your response.
