Reply: (edit)are this nss or traditional volumes ? in nwconfig delete the appl volume and span an existing volume over the refering pool (nss) or partition (traditional). but you can not mix it! regardsmike pacholke www.hsinet.de www.alte-netware.de www.old-netware.com

Reply: (edit)at the console type :volumes you will get a listing of your volumes with Name Spaces and Flags. under flags you will see either NSS or S . S is standard (traditional) NSS ( novell storage system ). regardsmike pacholke www.hsinet.de www.alte-netware.de www.old-netware.com

Reply: (edit)dear mike, In the above procidure i was able to delete appn volume by nwconfig. now a free space is also shown of 10 GB. but i could not add it to dta volume directly. It says u can use this spce to newly created volume. I tried to ad it to exesiiting volume by cwconfig but could not succed. Does it mean I have to take full backup of data colume and then delete data volume and than create data volume and add all free space to data vol? Is there any other way ? Does it affect rights given to user/group if i restore every thing to new daa volume?

Reply: (edit)until now i don't know if you have nss or trad. volumes :-) i assume it's nss : In Nwconfig, go to "NSS Disk Options"-->"NSS Volume Options"-->"View Volumes" --> go to DTA-volume - Check to see if the NSS volume is expandable. There will be a "Y" in the expandable column if it is. The customer had an "N" in this column on his server. This indicates that The volume is not expandable. then you have to delete it .... regardsmike pacholke www.hsinet.de www.alte-netware.de www.old-netware.com
