What is the best way to uninstall Netware 6.0 ? I want to reuse the server for a W2K install.
Will appreciate any help.
Thanks

Hi
Depends on the drive config e.g Are they SCSI drives? You can just boot with a Windows boot disk and use FDISK to remove the NetWare partitions.
Brian

Thanks Brian.
And No for the SCSI drive.
Just out of curiosity. Does Netware come with any uninstall utility ??
This is because i have some other compaq applications on the same partition as Netware. I may be wrong !!

No, Netware cannot be deinstalled as Windows itself also doesn't have a deinstallation routine.
In order to boot, Netware first needs a small boot partition (based on the good old MS-DOS or compatible). The rest of the drive is filled up with the netware partition which cannot be accessed directly from MS-DOS.
In this standard DOS partition you find the directory "nwserver".
During the boot process, MS-DOS first boots, then execute server.exe in the nwserver directory. The system changes to the netware kernel (which is not based on ms-dos). netware executes startup.ncf (resides on the DOS volume) to load the disk drivers and then mounts the netware partitions. after this autoexec.ncf is executed (resides on the netware partition) to load network drivers and so on.
so if you want to remove netware, with fdisk delete the netware partitions and then delete the nwserver subdirectory.
Then you have left the small and empty (or not?) MS-DOS partition.
Just be careful!
Philipp
ps: if you just want to deinstall applications on netware, use "load install" on the system console screen.
