TMP files are not being deleted from fol

Dear Forum Users and Volunteers,
I have a problem which started recently and there are no changes made to the server, NW5. The .tmp files created by MS Word 2000 are not being deleted from the Users' home directories. Each user has RWCEFM rights to there home folders.

This might help, I was running a Windows 98 PCand Office 2K was generating 0K TMP files in the windows directory. I removed the machine debugger program from the registry run keys (start up group) and tmp files were no longer created on each logon.

I've been trying to delete ~dfe879.tmp,dfe8cf.tmp and dfeb21.tmp file in my temp folder.

Suddenly some of my folders were replaced with new ones with very strange names like LnfbA299.TMP I cannot copy/cut my files from them. Please, Help!

what version of the client do you have? this is a tricky problem to tackle. you won't find any TID's on the novell kb specifically refering to this problem but check out this article http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10059733.htm i installed supprt pack 3 for client 4.8 and it fixed this problem. one of the workarounds to test this is by disabling file caching either on the client or at the console.
