Hello, We have a 2 gig hard drive on our server and 1.6 gig is used. On 2 out of 5 days we do a nightly backup, it asks for another tape the following morning when we get into the office. It isn't consistent to any specific tape i.e. dds1, dds2 or dds3.... Nor is the hard disk space ever getting less than 400 meg free! Can anyone shed any light on why the tape backup is asking for a second tape only on some days?

Look at your backup job. Are you overwriting the media or appending to it. If you appending to the media, they may actually be getting full, which would prompt for the second.
