Comment:

My server console keeps saying that synthetic time is being issued on partition
"T=", and the login script says that the workstation time cannot be set.

Can anyone help?

Each object is given a time stamp. You can go to Novell'w site where you can actually see a description of how this works. To much to write here. But to tell briefly what is happening with the synthetic time:

The hardware clock on the computer is set to a time that is behind that of the time stamp that is on NDS objects. For example lets say that the time stamp on an object is 1p.m. Then you turn the hardware clock on the computer one hour back. When the server comes back up, synthetic time will be issued because now all the time stamps on the NDS objects are 'futuristic'. The server will continue to issue synthetic time until the hardware clock catches up with the time stamps. If the time difference between the time stamps and hardware clock is only about one hour, then you need do nothing. If the time difference is really great, shut down the server(s) and wait until the time has come to meet that on the time stamps. Hope this helps. Go to Novell.com knowledgebase and type in for the search "synthetic time".
